Southeast Portland's premiere facility for tennis, fitness and swimming, the Eastmoreland Racquet Club provided the wonderful event space for our benefit Tennis Tournament and Extended Trailer Screening on November 7th, 2009. With a variety of outdoor and indoor recreation activites - from Yoga classes to pool parties, from tennis lessons to weight lifting - Eastmoreland Racquet Club is the perfect place to get physically fit while feeling right at home!
All of our Fundraiser's yummy mini-morsels - the Chocolate-Chip Hazelnut Cookies, Sugar Cut-Outs, Iced Pumpkin Spice Cookies, Molasses Cookies, Devil’s Food Cupcakes with Caramel Buttercream, Chocolate Caramel Bars, and Pumpkin Chiffon Tarts - were lovingly made and donated by Amber Darrington’s Le Cookie Monkey. Amber just wants to spread her passion and love for cookies, cakes and desserts to anyone and everyone, and we couldn’t be more supportive of that vision! A relatively young Portland business, Le Cookie Monkey cooks her confectionery creations for any occasion - from custom desserts to wedding cakes - always from scratch, always fresh, and always from the heart.
Bill Hayden and his company, Dreams and Solutions, collaborated with Robin Parker's Culinary Creations to graciously provide our guests several platters of appetizers for the November 7th Fundraiser. Highlights included bites of brie, gorgonzola, gruyere and fresh berries, as well as a few Mediterranean delights such as hummus, grilled squash, kalamata olives and hot meatballs. Imagine serving and savoring Bill and Robin's delicious food combinations at your own private Portland event!
For our Fundraiser's guests, Rogue donated a variety of their local Oregon brews: everyone’s favorite, Dead Guy Ale; the exotic, citrusy Brutal Bitter; their tawny American Amber Ale; and the roasty, malty Dry Hopped St. Rogue Red. A self-proclaimed 'small revolution,' Rogue is on a singular, admirable mission: to brew the finest varietal ales in the world with an uncompromising devotion to the art of brewing. Those bottles disappeared faster than we could say “Rogue Nation!”
Many thanks to Dave Hancock and his wonderful staff at Impress Printing, who were gracious enough to print our sponsor displays-sheets, silent auction bid sheets, and hundreds of our beautiful black & white and full-color flyers for free. This Portland print shop puts an unbelievable amount of professionalism and care into each and every project, client and sheet of printed paper. By allowing the customization of each design’s paper stock and layout, we were able to truly craft the look we wanted, in the exact time we needed it.
The beautiful LCD projector and giant projection screen on which we screened Full 23-minute Fundraising Trailer on November 7th were generously donated by LCD2Go Projector Rentals, Portland’s local source for affordable, high-quality presentation equipment. Their expertise and products can equip any event from business presentations to conferences, from school functions to parties, and from theatre productions to film screenings such as ours!
Deb Jones, of Garris Jones Design, donated her valuable time and talents to designing the DVD artwork for our 23-Minute Extended Trailer, now used as our primary promotional and fundraising tool. The DVD's professional tone and eye-catching appeal clearly demonstrate her expertise in graphic design and unique brand development for print and web.
This NW Portland coffee shop and roasting company generously gave five pounds of their Organic Guatemalan and another five of their Jungle Java Blend to accompany our Fundraiser's desserts. For over two decades, World Cup Coffee has been sourcing and roasting coffees from around the globe. They strive to find the coffees that best represent their regions’ flavors, then artfully roast them to bring out each bean‘s unique tastes and aromas, all the while employing sustainable business practices, from shade-grown methods to farmer-direct relationships. Special thanks to World Cup Barista and Assistant Coffee Roaster, Karen D’Apice, for brewing all the coffee at the event!

Joining our Fundraiser's line-up of Silent Auction packages were two Full 125-Point Vehicle Inspections and 3,000-mile Interval Servicings, courtesy of Tom Dwyer Automotive Services. With their new 350 Carbon Neutral Program, car-owners can feel safe and ecologically sound by bringing their car to Portland's premier ASE Blue Seal of Excellence Facility award-winner.
Dr. Scott Shephard, Oregon’s 2008 Chiropractor of the Year, provided one chiropractic appointment, complete with x-rays, to our November 7th Fundraiser's silent auction. After an initial consultation in which Dr. Shephard assesses his patient's articular, muscular and ligamental health, he then makes gentle adjustments as needed using his unique method of Controlled Force Chiropractic.
For our November 7th Fundraiser, The Four Graces donated two magnums of their 2007 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, an earthy and velvet-soft wine that bears all the hallmarks of a great New World Burgundy. In addition to the rich red wine, this Oregon vineyard provided a Tasting for Four at their renowned Tasting Room for the event's silent auction!
Northwest Portland's Square Deal Wine Co. provided our November 7th Fundraiser with an Educational Wine & Cheese Tasting for Ten. The lucky auction winner and guests can enjoy Square Deal's selection of unforgettable wines while learning about the life of wine, from vine to bottle, and their own tasting palates.
Sellwood's Burdigala Wines donated a Wine-Tasting for Ten to the silent auction at our Portland Fundraising Event this month. On a visit to this social wine bar, patrons can expect to enjoy access to shop-owner Didier Sudre's wealth of wine knowledge, as well as find a vast range of local and imported wines, including the largest variety of Bordeaux in all of Portland.
CRU-Dataport® extended their generous support from our production period into our post-production phase, providing our Silent Auction at the November 7th Event with a WiebeTech™ ToughTech™ Mini Pocket Drive. Their WiebeTech™ brand storage solutions served The Camino Documentary crew throughout the seven-week shoot with perfect reliability.
The Oregon Soap Company offered a bountiful array of locally-made, organic soap bars and liquid foaming soaps for the November 7th Auction. In addition to boasting fabulous scents like Forest, Lavender Oatmeal and Soapman's Spice, the Oregon Soap Company plants one tree for every 10 bars sold. Plus, all of their sudsy products are 100% Certified Organic and made with renewable energy - talk about a signature Portland business!
Our November 7th Fundraiser evening's wine was furnished by Owen Roe. They donated a case of their 2007 Sharecropper’s Cabernet Sauvignon, a plush, forward wine with fresh berry notes. Owen Roe believes great wine is fundamentally tied to fabulous fruit, attention to soil and honed knowledge of the plants’ development. For this Oregon wine-grower, “only the best is good enough.”
Vino, a wine shop in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland, OR, was generous enough to contribute six bottles of a 2006 Greg Norman Zinfandel, and six bottles of a white 2008 Quinta Das Amoras to our Fundraiser's festivities. Customers will find Vino welcoming, reasonably priced and dog-friendly! While shop-owner Bruce knows his grapes, he does remind us that, "it’s wine, not brain surgery.”
Carpe Diem Salon & Spa donated a certificate for a Jet-Peel Facial to our Fundraising Event in Portland, OR. This unique treatment involves a hydro-exfoliative technique to gently lift and rejuvenate the superficial layers of facial skin, all in the luxurious setting of Carpe Diem's decadent, Sellwood neighborhood salon.

Imago Theater, a performance venue deemed by the Willamette Week as "The Jewel of Portland Theatre", provided two Opening-Weekend Tickets to Biglittlethings for our Silent Auction on November 7th. This family-friendly show has been lauded by the New York Times as "a mastery of dance, mime and acrobatics," and has sold out the last four holiday seasons.
Gino's Restaurant gave a $50 gift certificate towards our Portland Fundraising Event. This family, friend and neighbor-friendly locale in Sellwood warmly greets its visitors with a century-old oak bar, local and seasonal ingredients, and Italian-influenced cuisine to fully satiate your appetite.
A Portland and Seattle favorite when it comes to freshly baked goods for breakfast and tasty soups for lunch, Grand Central Bakery contributed some of their famous, hand-crafted baguettes. Their use of the finest, local ingredients and commitment to the craft of artisan baking shines through in every loaf.
Wilson Sporting Goods, known worldwide for their professional-quality tennis gear, donated a case of tennis balls used by the competitors in our Fundraiser's Tennis Tournament. The donated balls were then offered as a bonus in one of our Silent Auction packages.
Included in our Portland Fundraiser Silent Auction items were Performance Tickets for Two, good for any 2009-2010 production at the Artists Repertory Theater. Some the compelling and intimate contemporary selections available to the winning bidder are Holidazed, Design for Living, Othello and Gracie and the Atom.
Bill Sullivan, Oregon's renowned outdoor/travel author and founder of Navillus Press, generously donated three signed Oregon Adventure Books: 100 Hikes in NW Oregon & SW Washington, Atlas of Oregon Wilderness, and Hiking Oregon's History. Sullivan's extensive works cover each and every area of the beautiful state of Oregon, detailing more than 500 magnificent sites to hike, camp, kayak or climb.
Navarre is both the first Spanish region along the Camino and a lovely piece of Spain residing just off East Burnside St. in Portland. Navarre serves tapas plus small and large plates based in Italian, French and Spanish origin, as well as 50+ wines available by the glass. For our Portland Fundraiser, Navarre provided a Chef's Dinner for Two to dazzle the tastebuds of a silent auction winner.
Powell Boulevard Veterinary Clinic's DVM Katy Felton generously put together a Pet-Care Package for our Portland Fundraiser Silent Auction; the package icnluded oral-hygeine dog chews, animal toothbrush and toothpaste, plaque-prevention gel, and one free dose of Advantage Flea Control, and much more! On top of these goodies, Felton donated a "Vet for a Day" opportunity for one student to shadow her and get a peek at the real-life work of a veterinarian.
Dave’s Killer Bread graciously donated some of their Killer Peace Bomb Mini-Baguettes for the evening’s dinner. A true Portland business, they are dedicated to community involvement, organic ingredients and sustainability initiatives. If you haven’t heard of them, crawl out from under that rock and try a slice!
For our Tennis Tournament prizes and one of our Fundraiser's Silent Auction packages, Washman Carwash provided three booklets containing five free Triple Polish Exterior Washes. Washman cares for your car and Oregon rivers and streams, recycling their water and using biodegradable solutions while providing the Portland Metro area with fast, brush-free carwashes.
Solut!, a national creative packaging solutions company, donated the dishware on which we served dinner at our November 7th Fundraiser. They specialize in strong, convenient, disposable, and environmentally friendly paper plates for commercial foodservice businesses and occasions.
Player's Racquet Shop, Portland's one-stop shop for tennis, racquetball, squash and badminton services and accessories, donated four Professional Re-Stringings November 7th Fundraiser Silent Auction, plus a Tennis Ball Waist Caddy and a large pink Ball Hopper, filled with all the balls used in the day's Tennis Tournament!
Zenful Monkey, a sanctuary for healing and balance tucked away in the Sellwood area of Portland, donated a rejuvenating spa treatment to our November 7th Silent Auction. Their 60-Minute Fusion Massage & Essence of Zen Treatment, which includes a heated herbal neck pack, body massage, therapeutic foot bath, and Dead Sea salt scrub, surely made for one very happy auction winner.
Sellwood Dog Supply happily serves Portland dog-owners from their Southeast metro location by providing their puppy pals with natural food, durable outdoor wear, stimulating toys, healthy treats, comfy beds and more. Their donation to our Fundraiser's silent auction outfitted the winning bidder's pooch in a custom-fitted dog jacket, to offer comfort and protection from those notoriously-Northwest rainy days.
In the spirit of the Camino, REI in Clackamas, OR, donated a unisex, fully adjustable and hydration-compatible Jet Ultralight Hiking Backpack for the Silent Auction at our November 7th Event...just the pack for a 500-mile walk through Spain.
Located in the South Waterfront district of Portland, The Pampered Pooch offers luxury pet grooming, ranging from massage-bathing, to fur-trimming, to ear-cleaning, as well as a variety of canine and feline products. For the Silent Auction at our Portland Fundraiser, The Pampered Pooch donated a Grooming Gift Certificate.
Portland's beloved New Seasons Market donated a $50 Shopping Certificate to our Nov. 7th Fundraiser, offering the fortunate auction-winner their wonderful selection of organic produce, happy-cow meats, zero-cruelty beauty products, and natural foods at their friendly Sellwood neighborhood location.
As a stylist at Nurture: Inspired Hair Design in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland, Jen Ashcraft is dedicated to nourishing her clients from the inside-out. Ashcraft contributed a gift certificate for one professional haircut for our November 7th Fundraiser, providing the lucky auction winner with a fabulous new look.
Rubi Sullivan, CSAMP, at Heal Small Animal Massage Therapy provided a holistic Basic Dog Massage for Owners Class for a winning Silent Auction bidder at our November 7th Fundraiser. Sullivan instructs owners on treating their dog's sore muscles, arthritis or stress, while improving canine circulation and immune system.
Professional hairstylist Eileen Coffey, of Cypress Salon & Day Spa, provided our Portland Fundraiser with a Custom Haircut for our Silent Auction. Cypress offers a welcoming and tranquil environment in the Sellwood neighborhood, where patrons are treated to the most pampering of expert treatments.
The Purple Door
The Purple Door Nail Spa pampers hands and feet in a cozy salon in Portland's Sellwood community. This colorful, friendly spa provided our November 7th Silent Auction with two gift certificates, each good for one of their expert manicure sessions.
The gift certificate provided by Costco allowed us to supply our Portland event with back-up materials and, considering that their prices are substantially lower than typically found at conventional retail stores, we were able to get the most out of those donated dollars.
For our November 7th Fundraiser, the Safeway's Woodstock location graciously donated a gift certificate with which we were able to purchase all of our last-minute event supplies.
The Oregon Mountain Community, "a group of Northwest mountain enthusiasts with the knowledge and expertise to help you with whatever your outdoor need", provides Oregon with veritable trove of outdoor gear, and provided our Portland Fundraiser with a $25 Gear Certificate for the Silent Auction.
Piece of Cake, the Sellwood neighborhood's award-winning bakery, contributed a Dessert Certificate to one of our Fundraiser's Silent Auction packages. Among the delectable options the certificate was redeemable for were cheesecake, chantilly chocolate cake, Irish oatmeal cake and even gluten/wheat free and vegan cakes!
Staccato Gelato whips up their delicious homemade Italian ice cream at two locations in Portland, with their newest addition in the Sellwood area. For our November 7th Fundraiser, they provided six Free Gelato Tokens for one lucky child (or child-at-heart) to enjoy.
