Post-Production
Finishing the Film
We are currently in the fundraising and post-production phase of The Camino Documentary. While we raised just enough money needed for a bare-bones shoot, without additional monetary support we cannot move forward with the film’s edit. Meanwhile, in preparation for the edit, a team of volunteers are digitizing, logging, transcribing, translating and organizing the hundreds of hours of footage gathered along the Camino. If you are interested in helping on this front, please refer to our get involved page.
We will produce at least two programs: an hour-long version for national PBS broadcast and worldwide telecast, and a ninety-minute theatrical release for national and international box offices. The longer version will most likely incorporate parts of the crew's journey, in addition to our featured pilgrims' experiences. For maximum exposure and accessibility, The Camino Documentary will be subtitled into six different languages: English, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese and French. Currently, we are pursuing a documentary that features just six of our pilgrims and their internal journeys. However, from our wealth of material, many different films could be cut to suit a wide range of audiences.
We aspire to have all financial backing in place by February of 2010, in order to move forward with the film’s main edit and have a finished product by winter of the same year; coinciding perfectly with the rare Holy Year for the Camino de Santiago. Yet in order to meet this goal, we still need to raise a substantial portion of our budget, so we are pursuing corporate sponsorship and exploring new funding resources. We anticipate a viewership of millions for The Camino Documentary’s multiple national PBS broadcasts, during which we can offer our main contributors a 15-second acknowledgment before and after the show.
